About
When Yvette and Gerard, a husband and wife team, inherited Hou Moud Farm, they saw immense potential in a packshed located on the edge of the property. After years of experimenting with the building the duo took a leap of faith and invested all their resources into transforming the La Concordia Packshed into the lifestyle mall we all know and love today.
Gerard Frater oversaw the renovation and construction of Frater Square. In a world becoming increasingly technologically advanced, he believes that now is the most crucial time to learn the craft of building and creating with your hands. If Gerard could be summed up in one sentence, it would be: “A jack of all trades.” He’s a craftsman, builder, biodynamic farmer, beekeeper, winemaker, and distiller.
Yvette Frater’s marketing expertise, logical thinking, and a keen eye for detail were instrumental in bringing Frater Square to life. Yvette met Gerard while excelling as a marketer for a large wine brand in the Winelands. She shifted careers after visiting Indonesia during her honeymoon, where she saw an opportunity to bring Indonesian craftsmanship back to South Africa, which turned into Eccentric Trading, the initial store in the Frater Square building. Since closing her store, Yvette has invested her time into managing and improving the square.
